Department of Accountancy, Student Organizations Beta Alpha Psi is a national scholastic and professional accounting fraternity. The primary objective of the fraternity is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the field of accounting. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting; providing opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing accountants, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. Beta Alpha Psi was founded in 1919. By 1997 there were over 200 chapters on college and university campuses with over 200,000 members initiated since the fraternity's formation. Institute of Management Accountants The IMA is the leading professional organization devoted exclusively to management accounting and financial management. As set forth in its mission and vision statements, its goals are to help members develop both personally and professionally, by means of education, certification, and association with other business professionals. As a respected leader within the global financial community, the IMA influences the concepts and ethical practices in management accounting and financial management.
